Joel Shapiro
Artist Joel Shapiro of New York is one of today’s most significant sculptors. His sculptures have been shown in a good 150 group and solo exhibitions in the USA and Europe. Several of his works are on display in New York’s leading museums: the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For his sculptures, which are made up of beam-shaped elements, Shapiro chooses materials such as wood, cast iron or bronze. Some of his works depict stylised human figures – in motion, or posing. Jamileh Weber acquired all the works presented here directly from Joel Shapiro.
